Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) diagnose and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. They work to improve patients’ abilities to communicate and express themselves effectively.
Speech and Language Therapists work with individuals who have communication or swallowing difficulties. They assess patients’ speech and language skills and develop personalized treatment plans to improve communication. SLTs treat a wide range of conditions, including speech delays, stuttering, voice disorders, and language impairments caused by stroke or injury.
They use various techniques, such as exercises, counseling, and alternative communication methods, to assist patients in improving their communication abilities. SLTs work in hospitals, schools, clinics, and private practices and often collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
