Bricklayers and Stonemasons construct and repair walls, patios, fireplaces, and other structures using brick, stone, and concrete.
Job Brief
You will lay bricks and stone in mortar, cut materials to fit design plans, and ensure the structure’s durability and appearance. The job is physically demanding and suited to those who enjoy working outdoors and with their hands.
Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints and interpreting construction drawings
- Measuring and cutting stone, brick, or concrete blocks
- Mixing mortar and laying materials accurately
- Cleaning and sealing finished surfaces
- Ensuring alignment and structural integrity
Requirements
- Apprenticeship or certification in masonry
- Physical stamina and precision
- Knowledge of safety standards and construction codes
- Experience using masonry tools and equipment
Wages
Average hourly wage: $28 to $45 AUD
